Custom post types and custom fields

Open Native AI → Content types (administrators). It has three tabs: Post types, Taxonomies and Custom fields. You can also ask the AI, in the builder or in the dashboard: “Create a post type called Services with Price and Duration fields.”

Post types#

A custom post type is content with its own list and pages: services, team members, projects, locations. Each gets its own menu in WordPress, edit screens and addresses.

• Singular and plural names: “Service” and “Services”.
• Name (key): lowercase, e.g. service. Its posts are stored under it, so it can’t change later.
• Address slug: items live at /slug/item-name/; with An archive page on, /slug/ lists them.
• Menu icon, Shown on the site, Items can have parents (like pages) and its editing features: content editor, featured image, excerpt, revisions, order and parent, author, comments.
• Taxonomies its items use: categories, tags or your own.

Design its pages with Native AI templates: a single template and an archive template with display conditions for that post type.

Taxonomies#

Ways to group items, like categories (terms can have parents) or like tags, for the post types you choose, e.g. “Service categories” for Services.

Custom fields#

A field group adds fields to the edit screen of the post types you choose. Field types: text, long text, number, email, link, date, yes/no, choice list and image.

• With Advanced Custom Fields active, new groups are created in ACF: you can edit them in ACF too, and ACF’s functions read them.
• Without ACF, Native AI shows the fields as a box on the edit screen.
• Either way the values are saved on the post under each field’s name. Show them with dynamic data: {custom_field:price}, or {acf:price} for ACF fields. Query Loops list them for filtering and sorting.
• Keep a field’s name when you change a group: values are saved under the name.

Removing#

Removing a post type, taxonomy or field group keeps its posts, terms and saved values in the database; add it again with the same name and they’re back. When the AI removes one, it asks first, and Native AI → AI → Activity can undo it.
